The following is excerpted from Images of America: Sculpture of Brookgreen Gardens, p. 41:

Arab, a prancing stallion by Allan Clark, was modeled in 1929 and was cast in bronze in Munich, Germany. Its gleaming finish is a result of fire-gilding. Arab reflects the influence of a three-year study trip to the Far East, where Clark visited and worked in Japan, Korea, China, Cambodia, Java, Malaysia, Thailand, and Burma. It was acquired for Brookgreen in 1935 and was placed in the Gallery of Small Sculpture in 1936.
